Center for Pastor Theologians

Pastoral theology · Theology · Humanities

You were formed as a pastor and a theologian. Build the Hall that needs both.

For You

The Center for Pastor Theologians formed you at the intersection of serious scholarship and pastoral care. You read deeply. You preach with theological precision. You understand that the local church is not a delivery mechanism for programs but a community of formation — and that the pastor's role in that formation cannot be outsourced.

CHI is asking you to extend that conviction into a Hall: an institution where the same commitment to theological seriousness and pastoral presence shapes the formation of the next generation.

The Work

A CPT-fluent Hall takes the integration you carry — rigorous theology, pastoral attentiveness, local embeddedness — and makes it the formative environment for students who are preparing to serve as pastors, theologians, and ministry leaders in their communities. You are not just teaching courses. You are modeling what it looks like to be a learned pastor who stays.

What CHI Provides

CPT-fluent Halls run as Theological Seminaries or Classical Honors Colleges. CHI provides MA-level theological studies through Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, biblical studies through Grace School of Theology, and liberal arts programs through HCU.

Three Ways to Engage

Start a Hall

You have the theological depth and the pastoral presence. The Hall Founder pathway walks you from vision to operating charter — and CHI provides the institutional scaffolding so you can stay focused on formation.

Become a Tutor

You want to teach in a Hall someone else is building. CHI connects pastor-theologians to Halls in their region that need your particular depth of theological and pastoral formation.

Become a Field Guide

You have spent years — perhaps a decade, perhaps a lifetime — at the intersection of scholarship and pastoral ministry, and you have relational credibility in a specific geography. Field Guides shepherd 15–20 Halls in their region: coaching Directors, carrying CPT culture into Halls that need it, holding the long view. The role is vocational, not contracted. Primary income from elsewhere is a prerequisite.
